Fred Thompson announces candidacy for president - CNN.com

Fred Thompson announces candidacy for president - CNN.com

Now Hillary has some competition for president. Fred Thompson will run for president. I can see the presidential debates now. Hillary won't stand a chance. Presidential candidates from the south ... especially conservative southerners always carry the election over liberal northerners. Amen! Also ,I get Fred mixed up with Dr. Phil sometimes. That's got to help.

Gun bill sent to governator as lawmakers rush to complete session

Gun bill sent to governor as lawmakers rush to complete session. New California legislation which doesn't think the US constitution is enough. Seems ridiculous to me. The second amendment says, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Seems pretty clear to me! Why would we need a gun bill?

Pentagon Nixes Ray Gun Weapon in Iraq

Click here to read the web article "Pentagon Nixes Ray Gun Weapon in Iraq"

Unfortunately, our Pentagon decision makers screwed up on this one. Why are we in Iraq... if not to test out our new weapons? As if it would hurt our American image. Screw that! Test it out in the heat of battle and see if it is worthy. We should be testing any other secret weapons we have also. For God's sake! Patton must be rolling in his grave!

Scientists Fired After Testing Husband's Underwear - Local News Story - WDIV Detroit

Scientists Fired After Testing Husband's Underwear - Local News Story - WDIV Detroit

I guess this will be a show this next year on the CSI Miami series. Seems more like a Miami show than a Vegas CSI. Sounds like the Detroit CSI is losing an outstanding criminalist .... over a messy divorce of a cheating husband. Sounds like she's on the losing end twice. Maybe she'll get a nice alimony check. .... I think LAPD could use another good criminalist.

Is This Man Cheating on His Wife?

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal about this guy who spends all his time on a computer with his avatar. Is This Man Cheating on His Wife?

.....A burly man with a long gray ponytail, thick sideburns and a salt-and-pepper handlebar mustache, Mr. Hoogestraat looks like the cross between a techie and the Grateful Dead fan that he is. He drives a motorcycle and wears faded black Harley-Davidson T-shirts around the house. A former college computer graphics teacher, Mr. Hoogestraat was never much of a game enthusiast before he discovered Second Life. But since February, he's been spending six hours a night and often 14 hours at a stretch on weekends as Dutch Hoorenbeek, his six-foot-nine, muscular, motorcycle-riding cyber-self. The character looks like a younger, physically enhanced version of him: a biker with a long black ponytail, strong jaw and thick handlebar mustache.

In the virtual world, he's a successful entrepreneur with a net worth of about $1.5 million in the site's currency, the linden, which can be earned or purchased through Second Life's Web site at a rate of about 250 lindens per U.S. dollar. He owns a mall, a private beach club, a dance club and a strip club. He has 25 employees, online persons known as avatars who are operated by other players, including a security guard, a mall concierge, a manager and assistant manager, and the "exotic dancers" at his club. He designs bikinis and lingerie, and sells them through his chain store, Red Headed Lovers.

"Here, you're in total control," he says, moving his avatar through the mall using the arrow keys on his keyboard. He married a red headed avatar in his virtual life and his wife is mad.

Sounds like a good life ...I'm not sure if it is is cheating though. I think it is probably like any hobby or addiction. This guy just needs to spend more time with his wife. Maybe I should give up the blog and other blogging stuff and spend more time with the wife and kids.

Here's a link to the web article. It has more details to help you decide. Is This Man Cheating on His Wife?

Mayor has another confrontation with TV reporter

The Mayor of Los Angeles has another confrontation with TV reporter. Mayor Villaraigosa had to answer questions about his latest sighting with Telemundo news anchor Mirthala Salinas. .... Well he didn't really answer questions...but he was on the defensive for sure. See video below.

What in the world are prisons coming to?

I heard about some Prisoner dance routines on Youtube. I guess this is part of their routine. Not quite sure about this ... back in my day we would never let prisoners make up dance routines and put them on the internet. It takes place in the Phillipines but could spread to the US. What is the world coming too?

Non-lethal Flashlight - LED Incapacitator

Here is an interesting device brought to us by Homeland security.... The Non-lethal Flashlight - LED Incapacitator . The device - using light emitting-diode technology - produces such a dazzling display of blue, green and red lights that those who find themselves in front of its strobe can't see, may develop a headache or even become physically ill.

Funded with $850,000 in DHS grants, the device could become an essential piece of equipment for police officers, border control agents and security officers, its Torrance developers say.

The device also could be used for crowd control, or on airline flights to subdue unruly passengers or even terrorists.

Fueled by rechargeable batteries, the flash is so strong it causes a person to immediately close his or her eyes. Lieberman said it creates a blinding effect that is much more severe than the blue spots that result when someone pops a flashbulb in your face.

Founded in 1998, Intelligent Optical Systems Inc. (IOS) is a high-tech firm that uses optical science to create security devices, medical equipment and monitors that detect hydrogen leaks in rocket engines. IOS is a Torrance California research and development business that invented the device.

Video of the device below. Click on the start button to view the video.

Saturday Night Live!

I'd have to say it has been a slow summer. It's been quiet here in California ... except for the mayor's escapades. Saturday night always makes me think of Saturday Night Live. I wanted to look for my favorite SNL skit .... which is "Sting in the elevator" .... but I couldn't find it on YouTube. Found some good "Toonces" videos and "Hans and Frans" youtube videos but I ran across this Nancy Pelosi skit which was hilarious. I can hardly wait until the Democrats win in '08. With skits like these, who wants the Republicans to be in control. "Live from New York ... It's Saturday Night! "

Mayor bodyguard roughs up TV reporter to protect the Mayor

The Mayor's bodyguards are increasing in number and toughness. Now they are roughing up ladies in dresses and high heels. ....Not exactly what they teach us at the academy. Well, the Port police don't make as much as LAPD ... maybe they've got more to prove. At least Bratton shouldn't have to take any heat for this one. Check out this link. It's about the end of the honeymoon between the press and the mayor. How's he going to control things now? Mayor bodyguard roughs up TV reporter to protect the Mayor.

Port clerks reach tentative agreement on contract

Local 63 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, the union for clerks who handle all the paperwork for ships coming to and leaving the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, reached a tentative agreement today on a new contract with 17 of the world's shipping lines and terminal operators, sources close to the talks said.

Details of the agreement were not immediately available, and union leaders and representatives for the companies were still huddled at a Long Beach conference center. Full details are expected this afternoon.

The deal, if ratified by union members, would avert a strike that could have shut down the nation's two busiest container ports. Because the two ports move more than 40% of the nation's container cargo, a strike might have led to federal intervention for the third time in 36 years to bring a strike to an end.

As they like to say in business, it's a win-win for everybody involved. Glad the clerks didn't have to strike. You didn't hear about it in the papers, but I could tell there has been a work slow down at the port for a few weeks. The trucks were backed up to the 47 Freeway. I had trouble getting out of my workplace.

...Today was smooth sailing for all trucks. It showed me that the contract was settled. Personally, I owe ILWU a debt of gratitude. I don't want to reveal too much here. They are honorable union members who showed me what solidarity means. Unions on average are weak and easily broken. Most union leaders are lazy and sell out their members. That cannot be said for ILWU.

ILWU are our neighbors, family and friends. I do not understand why they don't get more support from the community. Why support the CEO's who live on the hill? I have a theory it is because Americanism is mostly about individualism. We believe we all should succeed on our own merits and hard work. I feel that too. Unfortunately, the big fat corporate CEO's have all the advantages and unions are needed. I wish ILWU luck in their future struggles. I envy them also ...since police and fire unions are prohibited from striking.

LA County Coroner tour

Looking for an unusual birthday gift? The LA County coroner has an excellent gift shop website. I have a few t-shirts from this place. It is also an interesting place to visit. The address is 1104 North Mission Road, downtown LA.

I also like to check out the television series on Court TV called North Mission Road. Each episode follows the highly trained professionals of the L.A. County Coroner Department as they use the latest in forensic medicine and investigative techniques to solve a variety of challenging mysteries. Awesome show! Check out the show on Friday, July 20 @ 10:30 PM

San Diego Traffic Problems

San Diego is definitely one of the best places to visit in the USA. I've always enjoyed a trip to San Diego. The weather is even better than LA. There is more of a party atmosphere in the air. It is a fun place.... which may explain why the traffic in San Diego is WORSE than LA. The drive from LA to San Diego has always had problems especially on holiday weekends. Now, I'd say the problems are just about any given day. It easily can take 90 minutes to get to Sea World from Carlsbad. ... Then if you think the I-15 may be better.... forget about it. Those in LA who think we have the worst traffic in the USA... I'd have to say head down to San Diego to see how things could be worse. The light rail in San Diego is excellent. Next time I'll take Amtrak.

Current Events and some political jokes

"Here in Los Angeles, it turns out our Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was having a long time affair with a Telemundo reporter -- the reporter who covered him for the news. And typical of a politician he didn't actually admit it, he said he was illegally south of her border." --Jay Leno

"Senator Ted Kennedy spent yesterday reporting for jury duty, but was dismissed because of a conflict of interest. Turns out all 15 trials that day involved other Kennedys." --Jay Leno

"The pope announced that the Catholic Church provides the only true path to salvation and that other Christian groups are either defective or not true churches. Yeah, the pope finished by saying that 'God loves everyone, but he loves me more.'" --Conan O'Brien

It was so hot, the mayor of Los Angeles found out what his mistress would do for a Klondike Bar. ... That's the big story in Los Angeles. It seems our mayor is getting a divorce and is dating a local TV news anchor. To which Rudy Giuliani said, 'Hey, when I was mayor that was a slow week.'" --Jay Leno

[On the new Seven Wonders of the World]: "After seeing the list, President Bush asked, 'Hey, what about Space Mountain?'" --Conan O'Brien

"Yesterday on CNN, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa accidentally called Hillary Clinton Senator Kennedy. See, that's when you know you need to lose a few pounds before bikini season" --Jay Leno

Have a great day!

O'Melveny & Myers ...Oh my!

Today,

Met some real ass hole lawyer from O'Melveny & Myers. Geez , these guys think they rule the world. Guess what, they are the defense lawyers, prosecutors, judges & media all in one. Guess GW must have pissed one of these guys off. Yeah you know in your gut that there isn't an honest lawyer in the world ... and also a lawyer who wouldn't put their own mother in jail if the price was right. Now the media is owned by these guys. You know the lawyers allow the poor newspaper guys to play golf at their country club on the weekends.

When these O'Meleveny guys want to take some one down .... they just call up their media friends and tell them what to say. Yeah, those media peopple are real parasites like the lawyers ... so they get along swell.

Watch out!... Yeah then a lot of dumb ass people want to trash our police unions. Guess where we'd be without our unions. Out on the street when we try to defend ourselves from punks. Then the media gets people all excited and lies about what happened. They won't get protection for long from the police. That's all I got to say. I see these guys in court a lot. What a bunch of sleeze balls.

Not much new information today. Much the same as yesterday. A couple of interesting links. Amazingly Barack Obama smokes .... according to LA Times. Wow! If the environmentalists find out that Obama smokes .... they'll probably vote for Nader.

Also check out the Mayor Sam website. Here is the link to the chief is out of town again.

Happy George Washington's Birthday! No doubt the greatest president ever. No doubt because without GW there would be no US of A. No one can argue that. Without George Washington our country would not exist to have a president. He also was the only revolutionary who ever relinquished power .... unlike Castro, Napoleon, Mao etc. Fly the American flag on Feb 22nd in honor of George Washington. In LA it is the act of a rebel to fly the American flag!

Another slow Sunday .... except for the Daytona 500. What a finish! Too bad Mark Martin couldn't hang on for the victory. Kyle Busch tried to block Harvick from passing but couldn't hold him off. Kyle crashed and caused a pile up while Harvick went on to pass Mark Martin by a nose.

Nothing much to say .... how about trying a quiz.

Just would like to plug my favorite TV show.... Adam-12. You can download the first season off of iTunes and play it on your iPod or computer. I'm hoping to get the Apple TV soon so I can watch all my favorite Adam-12 episodes on my HDTV ... wirelessly from iTunes. Damn it is a nice day in LA today! Should hit 80 at the beach!

Time Warner is up to something today. My favorite Fox News TV channel was blacked out this morning. Must have been some liberal cover up. Looks like it is back on-line now at 11:15 am.

Wow! Anyone can create a blog these days. Just thought I'd start a blog and type away. I have nostalgia for my favorite show Adam-12. Thought I'd play a role, try it out and see how it fits.

Of course I'm interested in politics. Have you heard the news that Barrack Obama will be in town. Click the link and sign up so I can get some overtime...."BARACK OBAMA AT RANCHO CIENEGA ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH, 2007". Should be a good time. The scary thing is how the media is promoting this guy. How can anyone trust a candidate promoted by the media?

Boy, I bet our mayor will be there for a photo op. If Obama was smart, he'd keep his distance.
